Guillaume Sebag, freelance digital marketing consultant

I am Guillaume Sebag, a marketing consultant working with B2B and B2C companies in Canada and France. Specialized in organic search acquisition and Meta media buying, I work as a freelance consultant alongside a marketing and communications role at INNOV, the applied research and innovation centres of CCNB.
My marketing experience
Since 2014 I have worked in marketing and communications, in very different contexts. Here are the stages that matter.
Fun & Fly, the leading French travel agency for board sports, where I led the website rebuild and applied organic search best practices.
In agencies, I built marketing strategies worth up to five hundred thousand dollars for some clients, working across France, New Caledonia and Canada. GoliathTech Corporation was one of the largest accounts I managed in that setting.
Today I handle marketing and communications at INNOV, the applied research and innovation centres of CCNB, in New Brunswick, alongside my consulting practice in organic search, measurement and marketing strategy.
My story
1992: Voiron, Mont Blanc, and the first landscapes
I was born in a small Alpine town near Grenoble, with a view of Mont Blanc. At five I left for New Caledonia, where part of my family lived. The first jump elsewhere.
1997: growing up in the Amazon
I spent several years in French Guiana, from 1997 to 2002. Iguanas in the pool, a view from the garden of rockets taking off in the distance and shaking every tin roof around, afternoons running through neighbourhoods and forests. A bath of humanity, improvisation and openness.
2002: rural Normandy
Back to mainland France, in Haute-Normandie near Yvetot. Three simple, honest years in contact with rural life, its slow rhythms and its raw authenticity. I made friends there who are still around today.
2005: life is better in Tahiti
I moved to Tahiti and discovered another world. That jump led into a teenage period shaped by surfing, skateboarding and board sports. I also discovered aesthetics, movement, intensity, and the mana of that land and its people.
2010: back to the Alps, back to basics
After secondary school I returned to mainland France for a business administration degree at Aix-Marseille University. A first taste of professional reality, far from my lagoons, and a return to discipline and structure.
2013: the digital click
Then Belfort, for a degree specialized in e-commerce and digital marketing. I discovered web design, Adobe tools, HTML and CSS. I met Lucas Grimont, an SEO expert, who opened the door to a fascinating world. It was early 2014: Google was nothing like it is today, but I understood I had found a lever that energized me.
2014: New Caledonia, a fresh start
I moved back to Nouméa, this time to work in a marketing agency. I became a community manager, then quickly went independent. Website builds, computer repair, small contracts. I learned on the job, picked up the technical side, fixed improbable bugs. Not structured, but a real school of resourcefulness.
2016: the need for meaning
I returned to France and went back to studying. A master’s in information and communication, specialized in digital creation and production at UFR Ingémédia. I went deeper into strategy, storytelling and marketing, and discovered UX design. I realized those two self taught years had put me ahead.
2017: Quebec, creation and exploration
In my second year I went to UQAT in Quebec, nine hundred kilometres north of Montreal. I dove into a multidisciplinary environment alongside engineers, 3D artists, filmmakers and marketers. An augmented reality application, video mapping on an ice arch at minus thirty, virtual reality, HoloLens. I discovered you can mix everything: code, image, ideas, strategy.
2018: Fun & Fly, surf and SEO
Back to France to join Fun & Fly. A perfect match: board sports, travel and marketing. I led the website rebuild and applied organic search best practices. The queries I worked on still generate high potential traffic today. I also collaborated with Ion Club on international projects.
2021: back to Canada, a new course
Post COVID I left Toulouse and returned to Canada. I activated my working holiday permit and worked for an agency on projects up to five hundred thousand dollars. Intense. I strengthened my skills in SEO, advertising and social media on large scale projects.
2022: education, impact and meaning
My immigration path was difficult and full of uncertainty, but I obtained permanent residency. I then took an opportunity at Université de Moncton Continuing Education, where I became marketing and communications lead in July 2022. Between 2024 and 2025 I contributed to a sales increase of more than thirty five percent.
2025: applied research
In October 2025 I left Université de Moncton to join INNOV, the applied research and innovation centres of CCNB, where I handle marketing and communications.
I discovered a field I did not know: applied research projects run with companies and municipalities, in areas that have almost nothing to do with one another. My job is often to translate highly technical work for audiences who do not share the researchers vocabulary. That is exactly the exercise I enjoy, and it is a useful daily reminder: if I do not understand what I have to explain, nobody else will either.
I am thriving there, and that immersion in concrete work feeds directly into how I work with clients.
The markets I work in
Canada, France, New Caledonia, French Polynesia and Reunion Island. This is not an opportunistic list: I lived in New Caledonia and French Polynesia, and worked in an agency in Nouméa. These markets have their own dynamics, a tighter business fabric, less saturated online competition and search habits that differ from mainland France.
That changes the strategy in practice: search volume is lower, so intent matters more than traffic, and local reputation weighs more than the number of inbound links.
What I offer today
My practice is built around two services with a written scope: the Organic Visibility Diagnostic 90 days, to know what to optimize, what to create and in which order, and the GA4 and GTM tracking rebuild, so the numbers you decide on can be trusted. Each one has an announced price, a timeline and a list of what is not included.
Two is deliberately few. I would rather offer two formats I master end to end than a catalogue suggesting I can do everything.
What I learned
Freedom has a price: instability. But it taught me adaptability, resilience and curiosity.
Marketing is not a string of buzzwords. It is about listening, clarity and people.
Technique is nothing without intuition. And intuition is built through experience.
Frequently asked questions
Where are you based and who do you work with?
I am based in New Brunswick, Canada, and I work with Canadian and French companies, in English and in French. I also work with New Caledonia, French Polynesia and Reunion Island: I lived and worked in several of those territories, so I know their economic realities and search habits.
Are you a full time freelancer?
No, and I would rather say so. I handle marketing and communications at INNOV, the applied research and innovation centres of CCNB, and I run my consulting practice alongside it. That limits the number of clients I can support seriously at the same time, and it is also what lets me turn down an engagement I do not think is justified.
